Counselling in Aberdeen by Roger Kostick
About me I have been providing counselling in Aberdeen for several years. I work mainly in private practice with a range of client issues. I also provide counselling services to a number of national organisations operating Employee Assistance Programmes to local and international companies. I have experience working in a GP practice, student counselling and the voluntary sector. My decision to train as a counsellor was greatly influenced by my experience gained over many years in a variety of roles and work settings. I travelled extensively and also lived in Singapore and Australia for several years, working with people from diverse societies, cultures and backgrounds. I am very aware of the uniqueness of personal experience. I was also very interested in the similarities of problems facing people across different cultures. This stimulated an enduring interest about how people meet the challenges and crises in their lives and their relationships with others. I followed this interest and first studied psychology, then trained as a counsellor. In my work as a counsellor in Aberdeen, my prior experience has shown the importance of relationships grounded in trust. I try to bring openness and sensitivity to my counselling work and I welcome challenge. I believe that my own life experience and training has helped me to sustain a principled, straightforward approach to therapy. My Qualifications Counselling: Post Graduate Diploma in Person-centred Counselling - University of Strathclyde Post Graduate Certificate in Counselling Skills - University of Strathclyde.
